The Challenge
Execution under unfamiliar conditions
This was OMAYA’s first fully completed yacht and NIKI’s first end-to-end yacht interior delivery.
Challenges
Technical:
- Technical documentation entered production while still at a prototype stage
- Several early decisions were technically valid in isolation but unsuitable for real marine conditions
- Certain material choices resulted in increased labor input and higher material consumption during execution
Management & Communication:
- Engineering teams from different national and technical backgrounds collaborated on shared documentation
- Differences in terminology and interpretation slowed alignment and decision-making
- Production and shipyard locations were geographically separated, extending feedback loops for fitting, revisions, and approvals
As these factors compounded, project risk shifted from schedule pressure to loss of execution control.

The Solution
Engineering a significantly stronger final product
As complexity surfaced, the focus shifted from defending early assumptions to restoring control and protecting the final result.
- Responsibility for furniture engineering was centralized to eliminate fragmented ownership.
- Decision-making was escalated directly to senior technical leadership on both sides to shorten approval cycles.
- Material selections were revised mid-project despite increased short-term cost and extended deadlines.
“The biggest win was the final result. Despite all the difficulties, the project reached a level we are truly proud of.”

Clear division of responsibility
OMAYA provided:
- Marine-specific knowledge related to noise control, movement, and onboard durability
- The first phase of detailed joinery engineering, supplying documentation to NIKI for review and optimization
- Final installation and assembly onboard the yacht
NIKI Ltd. led:
- Value engineering, manufacturing judgment, and supplier coordination to stabilize execution
- Adaptation of designs for production-ready quality, coordinating every change with the client to optimize materials, processes, and final output
- Advanced machinery, skilled production teams, and a mature supplier network capable of executing complex components at scale

The Result
The finished interior elevated OMAYA’s brand perception and aligned with the yacht’s positioning in the luxury segment.
By assigning full furniture responsibility to a specialized partner, OMAYA retained focus on composite manufacturing, systems integration, and final assembly.
Despite evolving conditions during execution, the project reached completion without compromising the final outcome.
